I am a UKCP registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. First I trained as a psychodynamic counsellor at Brighton University and then undertook a four-year further training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with the Guild of Psychotherapists in London.
My initial formation was in anthropology in Ecuador, then I moved to the UK for my masters in development and social transformation at the University of Sussex. Working with diverse backgrounds, languages, genders and ethnicities has been an important part of my trajectory. Because of this experience I have a particular interest in topics of health, rites of passage, migration, ethnicity, gender and identity in relation to mental health.
As a therapist I am deeply committed to my clinical practice. My approach to Psychoanalysis is pluralistic and it involves getting to know you and how any circumstances or difficulties are affecting you before reflecting on how your past and present experiences are impacting your life. Every Psychotherapeutic journey is unique, as it involves both of us working closely together to notice what happens in the treatment hour in order to shine a light on both conscious and unconscious aspects of the situation. Because of this, and as part of my training, I have undergone intensive psychoanalysis in order to understand myself and others in depth.
I work in both English and Spanish. In addition to my private practice working with adults, I have experience of working in an NHS mental health setting, as well as with children, adolescents and young people privately and in schools, helping them through different stages and transitions of their lives.
